35 students hurt in mishap

NURPUR: At least 35 trainees of a private institute, Trysha Institute of Learning and Career Development, Jawali, were injured when the private bus they were travelling in fell into a gorge near the Pathankot-Mandi national highway today.

At least 35 trainees of a private institute, Trysha Institute of Learning and Career Development, Jawali, were injured when the private bus they were travelling in fell into a gorge near the Pathankot-Mandi national highway today.

After receiving information, the SDM and the DSP reached the spot and started a rescue operation with the help of local residents and an NDRF team. 

The injured, who are in the 19-22 age group, were taken to the Civil Hospital. Their condition is stated to be out of danger. The police said the students were on an excursion to Khajjiar and Dalhousie. The driver lost control over the vehicle on a narrow road and it fell into a gorge. The bus driver, identified as Ramesh Singh of Jawali, fled. However, he later surrendered at the Nurpur police station. He has been booked under Sections 279 and 337 of the IPC.

Meanwhile, SDM, Nurpur, Surinder Thakur said the cost of treatment was being borne by the administration. — OC
