Musical event a tribute to Rabindranath Tagore

CHANDIGARH: The Pracheen Kala Kendra organised a melodic Bengali music event, ‘Rabindro-Nazrul’, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam at Tagore Theatre here today.

The Pracheen Kala Kendra organised a melodic Bengali music event, ‘Rabindro-Nazrul’, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam at Tagore Theatre here today.

The lead singers included TV personality Amrita Ganguly, besides Nasrin Imam Hazra, Shubhashish Hazra and his disciples. The programme began with Rabindranath song, ‘Phule Phule Dhole Dhole’, followed by Nazrul’s composition ‘Rum Jhum Jhum Jhum’.

Star singer Amrita Ganguly chose ‘Brahm Sangeet’ and presented ‘Bohe nirantaro anandadhara’ followed by several other famous songs. She concluded with ‘Buley fuley’ and ‘khorrobayu’ amidst thunderous applause. Soumya Sengupta compared the stage gracefully.

Kendra registrar Dr Shobha and secretary Sajal Koser honoured the artistes.
