Nahan, May 23
Notwithstanding the lowest lead secured by the BJP in the Shimla Lok Sabha seat from Sirmaur district, it is the first time when BJP candidate Suresh Kashyap has been elected as an MP from here.
The results of Sirmaur district have come as a surprise for the BJP as its leaders were expecting an overwhelming lead from here as a local candidate had been fielded for the first time. The BJP has three MLAs from the district in Nahan, Paonta Sahib and Pacchad while the Congress’ two MLAs from Shillai and Renukaji could not manage to secure a lead for the party.
With Kashyap’s winning margin being a mere 16,021 votes from his home turf of Pacchad, factionalism within the party has been exposed.
