AAP congratulates BJP, hopes Modi would do ‘good work’

This afternoon when the BJP crossed the tally of 350 seats in the Lok Sabah elections 2019, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) congratulated the saffron party for its victory and said it hoped that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would do "good work" in the next inning of his government at the Centre.

The BJP was leading in all seven seats in the national capital, with three of its candidates ahead by over one lakh while the Congress and the AAP were trailing at the second spot in five and two seats, respectively.

"In democracy, mandate of the people is considered to be very powerful. We respect the mandate of India and congratulate the BJP for its victory. We offer Prime Minister Narendra Modi best wishes for his future tenure. We hope he would do good work in his future tenure," AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj said.

Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari, who contested from the North East Delhi constituency against Cogress veteran and former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and AAP's Dilip Pandey, was leading with approximately 54% votes.

Very disappointing, we should have won: Dikshit

Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit conceded her party's defeat in the Lok Sabha polls 2019 in the national capital, terming the loss "very disappointing", and congratulated the BJP for its spectacular performance.

The BJP won all the seven seats that was unexpected, she said.

"It is very disappointing, we should have won," she said.

Dikshit, who was defeated in North East Delhi, expressed satisfaction that the Congress pushed the Aam Aadmi Party to the third place on five seats - West Delhi, New Delhi, North-East, Chandni Chowk and East Delhi.

"That is a very good thing, we welcome it," she said.

Dikshit was defeated by BJP candidate Manoj Tiwari. She was voted only 4,21,697 (28.9%) votes against Tiwari who was voted 7,87,799 votes (53.9 per cent).

She said Delhi party leaders will meet in coming days and discuss steps needed in view of her party's dismal performance in the election.

People reposed faith in Modi government: Tiwari

Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwar said the victory achieved in 2019 was historic and this overwhelming mandate was the repetition of the 2014 mandate.

The interesting point in North East Delhi was that Tiwari and Dikshit both was chief of their party's Delhi unit.

The people have appreciated the tremendous amount of work done by the government under the leadership of Narendra Modi and hence have given a clear mandate to the BJP. This grand victory is the stamp of democracy that the people of India has put on the developmental work done by the Prime Minister in the past five years.

Tiwari said the people of the country had reposed the faith in the Modi government and have admitted to the very fact that "Modi hai to mumkin hai".
