Robber nabbed after encounter

A robber, identified as Arshu (22), has been arrested by special cell after an exchange of firing with the special cell. He was wanted in a violent robbery at Bhajanpura.

On May 22, the special cell received information that Arshu is going to commit another robbery along with his accomplice and will go towards Bhajanpura on a black motorcycle around midnight, said the DCP.

The team deployed at around Rajghat and Ring Road spotted the said motorcycle at Daryaganj. Accordingly, teams at next checkpoints were alerted and the motorcycle was followed.

The team intercepted the suspect and directed to stop. But, Arshu fired at the team in order to evade apprehension. The police also fired two rounds in self-defense which resulted in injuring Arshu on his right hand, he said.

He was overpowered and taken to LN Hospital. The accused is hospitalised and will be put to sustained interrogation after his discharge from the hospital. — TNS
