A high drama was witnessed at the PPCC office as a suspended Congress leader, Lakhwinder Kaur Garcha, was reinstated by party senior vice-president Lal Singh today. The move invited strong objection from Punjab affairs incharge Asha Kumari.
As per the rules, any leader suspended from the primary membership of the party cannot be reinstated without the permission of AICC general secretary Asha Kumari.
The PPCC had suspended Garcha after she was found indulging in anti-party activities two years ago.
Garcha, who was the officer on duty of Capt Amarinder Singh when he was the Chief Minister between 2002 and 2007, wanted ticket from Kharar. Though the party fielded sitting MLA Jagmohan Singh Kang, Garcha continued to hold meetings with party workers, following which a complaint was lodged with the state leadership.
