350 state students get placements

Chandigarh University (CU) Vice Chancellor RS Bawa said students from the Jammu region had performed brilliantly in academics and had bagged 410 offer letters during campus placements.

He said 350 state students studying engineering, management, mass communication, animation, biotechnology, law and hotel management had bagged offer letters from MNCs like Microsoft, IBM, Google, Amazon, Wipro, Cognizant, Bank of America etc.

The VC, at media briefing on Wednesday, said academic scholarships worth Rs 10 crore will be offered through an all-India scholarship based entrance test — Chandigarh University Scholarship and Admission Test, which was currently being conducted online across 19 states.

“It will offer scholarships to more than 800 students in 50 undergraduate and MBA programmes offered. Also, the CU has offered 10 per cent scholarships to wards of school teachers and university/college professors of J&K.”

The CU will give 5 per cent seat reservation in each course for wards of serving/ martyred defense personnel. It will offer scholarships up to 25 per cent for wards of military and paramilitary forces.” — TNS
