Official caught accepting bribe

SRINAGAR: On a written complaint by a daily earner, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday booked a Block Development Officer for demanding bribe from his employees for releasing their salary.

On a written complaint by a daily earner, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday booked a Block Development Officer for demanding bribe from his employees for releasing their salary.

An official statement said: “On May 22, a written complaint was lodged with the ACB- north Kashmir) by a daily earner in the Sopore block, who alleged that the Block Development officer, Abdul Rashid Ahanger, had demanded a bribe from them for releasing their wages.”

A case was registered on the complaint and during the course of the investigation, “a team was constituted under the supervision of DSP Sajad Ahmad, who laid a successful trap and caught the Block Development Officer red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant.” —TNS
