Chandigarh, May 21

Even as the counting of votes is set to take place on May 23, the BJP has already set its mind on the forthcoming Haryana Assembly elections in October this year.

Buoyed by the reports of excellent performance in the exit polls, the party, at its meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, today sought to firm up its strategy for the Assembly polls by holding a brainstorming session and resolving to form a manifesto committee.

“The political situation to gear up the party for the elections was discussed and feedback taken from MLAs. It was resolved to form a manifesto committee at the next meeting of the legislature party,” BJP chief Subhash Barala said.

Barala said feedback was being taken from all elected representatives about various development works in their respective areas so that they could be completed before the model code of conduct came into force for the Assembly polls.

Sources said the elected representatives were asked to spread awareness about the flagship schemes of the Central and the state government to the grassroots. The MLAs were asked to come up with unfinished development works in their respective areas, including announcements made by chief ministers, so that a time-frame for their completion could be worked out.

On May 15, Khattar held an informal Cabinet meeting to discuss the political situation. Yesterday, the BJP held another feedback session with the party’s top brass in Rohtak.
