Congress councillor Manpreet Singh Grewal, along with the party workers Mohit Rampal and Tony, today met Commissioner of Police Sukhchain Singh Gill regarding the election day scuffle with social activist Anmol Kwatra and his father Raju Kwatra.

Congress MLA from North Rakesh Pandey, who reportedly went there in their support, said: “I had not gone to the CP office in support of the Congress workers who had scuffled with Kwatra on the election day but I had gone there for some personal work. The police are doing their job, and action is being taken on merit. I am yet to get the complete details from Grewal about the issue,” said the MLA.

Meanwhile, the Congress workers gathered at the CP office claimed that they had raised the matter before Panday as the city police had not registered any FIR against Kwatra who started the scuffle.

On May 19, Anmol laid siege to Shivpuri Chowk alleging that his father was thrashed by Congress councillor Grewal and his aides Mohit and Tony. He called off the protest after the police registered an FIR against Mohit and Tony.

In his complaint submitted to the CP today, Mohit has alleged that Kwatra’s father Raju, who is an old worker of LIP, had insisted that he and his wife cast vote for the LIP chief Bains. When they refused, Raju turned furious and started hurling abuses at them.

“Raju called his son, who reached the spot along with more than 24 persons and attacked me. The Congress workers intervened to save my life,” alleged Mohit.

Mohit said Dr Gill had told DCP Ashwani Kapoor to look into the matter and take action on merit.
