Cleric arrested for sensitive remarks

Rajouri: A religious scholar, Moulana Mohammed Farooq, was arrested by the Rajouri police on Monday for making sensitive remarks at a religious congregation recently. The police said his remarks had the potential to disturb the peaceful atmosphere. He was, however, released on bail on Tuesday. The police said action was taken after a video of the hate speech had gone viral on social media recently. The police have booked the cleric under Sections 153-A of the RPC and 66 of the Information Technology Act. The police are also mulling legal action against the administrator of the social media page. oc
