Jammu, May 21

Taking note of the unauthorised running of nursery classes in some private schools in the Jammu division, the Directorate of School Education, Jammu (DSEJ), has ordered the management of these institutes to get necessary permission/ extension from the competent authority.

The permission and extension to run and manage private schools from nursery to Class XII in J&K is governed by the provisions of the J&K School Education Act, 2002, and rules framed under SRO- 123 of 2010 as amended from time to time.

Sources said there were some schools which were functioning as franchisees without the permission of the Chief Education Officer (CEO) of the district concerned, adding that the school directorate had impressed upon such private schools running nursery classes to immediately obtain necessary permission/extension.

The CEOs and Zonal Education Officers have been directed to ensure that no unauthorised private school is allowed to run in their zone. “Surprisingly, they have even added higher classes without permission from the competent authority. This is not only a clear violation of rules but also putting students and parents in trouble for no fault of theirs,” a DSEJ official said.
