Doc suspended for promoting private labs

Patiala, May 21

Doctor Harshinder Kaur of Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, has been suspended for her alleged nexus with private labs. Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Satish Chandra issued the order of her suspension on Tuesday. The doctor has been suspended with immediate effect for her involvement in the unethical practice of referring patients to private labs.

Dr Harshinder, a pediatrician, was caught red-handed by hospital’s Medical Superintendent (MS) Rajan Singla on May 15 while referring patients to a private lab. Following the incident, the MS had reported the matter to the Director Research Medical Education. She was suspended for entertaining the medical representative of private labs and compelling patients to conduct tests there.

Dr Harshinder had served a defamation notice to the MS alleging that she was framed by him. —TNS
