A day after the polling for the Lok Sabha elections got over and the exit polls have predicted a massive win for the BJP, the party has gotten into an overdrive to correct the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi abroad.

After the drubbing received in the western media, the central committee of Overseas Friends of BJP has started an online petition to take on the reports appearing in the western media, calling the Prime Minister “Divider-in-chief”. Ashwin Johar, a doctor-turned-politician and central committee member of the Overseas Friends of BJP, the party’s foreign cell, has started a petition to counter the alleged “campaign being run against Modi”.

Talking to The Tribune here today, Dr Johar said an attempt to build a wrong image of the Prime Minister was being made and the wisdom of the Indian electorate was being questioned. “It is wrong to suggest that the party or its leaders are indulging in divisive politics. Rather all persons, irrespective of their religion, have benefitted from the economic and social welfare schemes of the NDA government,” he said.
