70.18 pc get inked in Hamirpur

The Hamirpur parliamentary constituency witnessed a record 71.26 per cent voting in the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Significantly, the highest percentage of polling of 76.23 per cent was recorded in Haroli Assembly segment while Dharampur experienced the lowest 62.71 per cent.

The Hamirpur parliamentary constituency witnessed a record 71.26 per cent voting in the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Significantly, the highest percentage of polling of 76.23 per cent was recorded in Haroli Assembly segment while Dharampur experienced the lowest 62.71 per cent.

The constituency had a total of 13,62,269 electors, including 6,91,683 men, 6,70,579 women and seven transgender. There are 17 Assembly constituencies and all had registered over 60 per cent voting till the filing of the report.

Polling in some polling stations continued after 6 pm.

The Returning Officer said the polling was peaceful in the constituency and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere. The EVMs would reach the district headquarters tonight and would be kept under tight security, she added.
