Producer-director Karan Johar recently took to his Twitter to tweet a photo of Dharma Productions’ latest release Student of the Year 2 along with its opening week box-office numbers. The filmmaker called SOTY 2 a summertime hit in his tweet and well, this surely didn’t go down well with Twitterati. Users trolled him for calling it a hit. Many event criticised the film and called it a big flop, asking for a refund of the amount they spent on tickets for the film.
Trollers won’t spare
A Twitter user wrote, “Made on a budget of around 70-80 cr (as per Wikipedia) this film under performed on BO. U r advertising that its a huge hit to attract people but unfortunately we have other good options than wasting money and time over this.” Another user wrote, “What a terrible film! Pity inspite of ur stature, u r trying to cover mediocre filmmaking with paltry box office col. Producer share of this collection would be approx 26Cr. Won’t even cover ur landing cost. Please focus on good cinema.” According to the box office collections, the film got a fairly big opening with Rs 12.06 and an overall opening weekend collections of Rs 38.83 crore, but it had a great fall over the weekdays.
