Amritsar: Call it people’s disappointment towards the consecutive governments or something else, a lack of enthusiasm was witnessed among the voters this time with 56.35% turnout was recorded in Amritsar. The polling percentage is much lesser as compared to the previous two parliamentary polls. In 2017, over 70% turnout was reported while in 2014 when Capt Amarinder Singh contested against BJP senior leader Arun Jaitley, it was pegged at 68.18%. The urban belt of holy city recorded a maximum of 57.92% (Amritsar North) voting while a minimum of 46% (Amritsar East). In the rural belt, Ajnala saw highest turnout with 66% while Attari reported minimum with 49%. PK Jaiswar
