Ferozepur: Barring a few incidents of clashes between SAD-BJP and Congress workers, polling went peaceful in the high-stake border segment of Ferozepur. Congress’ Sher Singh Ghubaya is pitted against SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal for the seat. In the Ferozepur (rural) segment, a Congress panchayat member, Angrej Singh from Ramewala village, was attacked by some unidentified persons while he was returning from Peere Ke village after casting his vote. Angrej was accompanied by his father, son and two other women of his village. “Some Akali workers stopped me on the way and attacked me with sharp-edged weapons and baseball bats. They fled later,” said Angrej, who was admitted to the Civil Hospital. Some workers also entered into an argument at the Ward No. 14 booth. However, the situation was brought under control by the police. DC Chander Gaind interacted with voters at several booths in the area. Meanwhile, Ferozepur IG MS Chinna said no incident of violence was reported in the constituency. Meanwhile, several booths were decorated and elaborate arrangements were made for voters. Anirudh Gupta
