Diabetes Free World organised a free blood glucose and blood pressure check-up camp for those who came for casting their vote. As many as 120 voters were benefited and they shared their pictures on social media.

“Diabetes Free World salutes democracy and voters and this camp is a tribute to our vibrant and conscious society,” Dr Surinder Gupta from the DFW said.

A team of doctors from Diabetes Free World led by Dr Surinder Gupta, Dr Diwaker Sharma, Dr Sangeeta, Dr Bharat Bhushan Chhabra, Dr Sunil Sharma and Dr Ritu Sharma served more than 120 voters, who came for voluntarily for blood glucose and blood pressure check-up.

Dr Gupta said health awareness in India has to be a national priority, because the nation cannot progress without a healthy society.

Particularly lifestyle/non-communicable diseases also known as chronic diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases (hypertension, heart attacks and stroke), cancer, chronic respiratory diseases (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma) should be on the priority list.

Physical inactivity, obesity, tobacco, alcohol abuse and unhealthy diets, all increase the risk of dying from NCD. Timely detection, screening, treatment and palliative care remain the line of action in a majority NCDs.
