4 generations step out to vote

Octogenarian Harbhajan Singh (88), of Chhapar village in Dakha, voted along with fourth generation of his family today. Ujjwal Deep Singh, great-grandson was the youngest voter.

Known for their loyalty to a national party, the family has played an active role in governance at village, block and zila parishad-level. While Harbhajan Singh served as a sarpanch of the village and was chairman of Cooperative bank for five years; Ravinder Romi, his grandson was elected to block samiti.

Kulwant Singh, who is a son of Harbhajan Singh has been helping elected members in running affairs of their respective civic bodies.

Harbhajan Singh said, “I have never forced any family member to cast their vote in favour of a particular candidate. They decide unanimously to support the national party.”
