The exercise of issuing voter slips, in which particulars of voters were specified proved to be a futile exercise.

“What was the use of preparing voter slips and wasting stationery as they were not accepted by the polling staff at the time of casting votes. The polling staff demanded additional identitiy proof,” said Jasvir Jhajj, general secretary, Kendri Punjabi Writers Association.

“Numerous officials were deployed in different villages to distribute voter slips. When the entire detail of a voter is given on the slip and issued by the election staff, then why do they need an additional proof,” he asked.

“Many voters who had just brought voter slips had to return and bring an additional proof,” said a resident of Landa village.
