Jalandhar, May 19

Technical snags continued to be reported on the day of polling in all the assembly constituencies in the region. Voters who had come to cast their votes had to bear the brunt of defaults in the electronic voting machines( EVMs). Jaspreet Singh, deployed at the Tehsildar office, said from the six Lok Sabha constituencies of Jalandhar, 12 ballot units, 8 control units and 60 VVPAT units were replaced during the polling process, which delayed the casting of votes by more than an hour at some places. These technical glitches were reported in six constituencies: Phillaur, Shahkot, Kartarpur, Jalandhar West, Jalandhar North and Adampur. However, no faults were reported from three constituencies: Nakodar, Jalandhar Cantonment and Jalandhar Central. — OC
