Four arrested for ATM fraud

NEW DELHI:Four members of an interstate gang have been arrested for alleged ATM skimming, cloning cards and withdrawing money from the account of victims.

Four members of an interstate gang have been arrested for alleged ATM skimming, cloning cards and withdrawing money from the account of victims. They have been identified as Dharmender (38), Siddharth (30), Sunli Kumar (36) and Mayank Shukla (27).

Over 300 white cards used for cloning and making new ATM cards, 85 used cards, 30 debit cards, 50 data cables, cables, card device, four plastic panels fitted with battery, chips, small camera, six plain plastic panels, four plastic mouse, 12 batteries, four wired card reader, 16 live cartridges and Rs 15,60,000 have been recovered from their possession, said DCP Monika Bhardwaj.

Several complaints regarding ATM fraud were recently reported in Tilak Nagar following which a police team was constituted to nab the culprits. On the basis of technical surveillance and secret information, all four accused were arrested, said the DCP.

“Several other complainants have approached the police and the cases are being investigated. Efforts are being made to arrest the remaining accused, to recover the amount and also to ascertain the source of recovered electronic device and country-made pistol,” said the DCP.

During interrogation, the accused disclosed that they used to conduct recce of the area and identify the ATMs without security guards. Mayank used to enter the ATM and spray a chemical on the CCTV camera. Dharmender used to install skimming machine,” she said.
