Faridkot, May 16

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday took out a roadshow in Jaito, Kotkapura and Faridkot — three Assembly segments of the Faridkot parliamentary constituency— in favour of party candidate Prof Sadhu Singh. Kejriwal appealed to the people to vote for his party candidate.

Besides attacking Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and the Badals, he accused them of having a tactical understanding. Kejriwal has been focusing mainly on Prof Sadhu Singh’s educational qualification to woo the voters.

“You have to choose between the illiterates and a qualified person while giving your vote. One who could look after your interests and raise demand in Lok Sabha or one who is just a mute spectator,” said Kejriwal, while addressing a gathering in Jaito on Thursday.

A retired college teacher, Prof Sadhu Singh did MA (English). However, Gulzar Singh Ranike of the SAD and Mohammad Sadique of the Congress have no formal qualification.

Hoping Prof Sadhu Singh’s qualification could sway voters, Kejriwal asked the people to prefer to cast their vote in favour of someone with a higher qualification, who could understand their problems and have calibre to solve the same.

“There is visible hobnobbing between the Badals and Capt. In the past over two years, there is no concrete action has been taken against the sacrilege accused,” said Kejriwal.

Though many villages near Bargari, including Sarawan, Gursar, Behbal Khurd and Dhilwan Kalan were on the itinerary of Kejriwal’s roadshow and hundreds of people were waiting for his arrival, they were left disappointed as the roadshow did not enter these villages which were the epicentre of sacrilege and its consequent protests in the area.
