Solan: Congress leader Navjot Sidhu on Wednesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was running away from core issues and as against the 342 promises made by him in 2014 before assuming power he had failed to keep none.

Addressing an election rally at Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district in support of Congress candidate DR Shandil for Shimla Lok Sabha seat, Sidhu said major promises like cleaning Ganga and provision of 2 crore jobs had proved to be mere poll gimmicks. He said his lies had been exposed before the people and they would give him a befitting reply in these elections.Sidhu, while questioning the PM’s oft-repeated query of asking the Congress what it had done in its 70-year rule, said when Modi was a child the Congress had given key projects like DRDO and Bhakra Dam to the nation. Virbhadra in secret pact with BJP: Mankotia

Dharamsala: Former minister Vijai Singh Mankotia has accused former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh of forging a secret alliance with the BJP. He alleged that it was due to this reason the former Chief Minister was opposing Congress candidates. Addressing a press conference here, Mankotia alleged that the Congress high command did not give ticket to the favourites of Virbhadra this time. From Hamirpur, Virbhadra had announced the candidature of Abhishek Rana, son of the Congress MLA from Sujanpur, much before the party released the list of candidates. He had even addressed rallies organised by Abhishek projecting him as a Congress candidate. However, the Congress later announced the name of Ram Lal Thakur from Hamirpur. He alleged that Virbhadra was also against the Congress candidates from Mandi and Shimla and had said “unpleasant things about the party’s official candidates to harm their prospects”. TNS
