Chandigarh, May 15

The BJP wants Congress nominee from Sirsa Ashok Tanwar booked for allegedly instigating his party workers to resort to violence and “torch vehicles” coming towards buildings, where EVMs have been kept.

BJP candidate from Sirsa Sunita Duggal, who contested against Tanwar, today alleged that the latter had lost his mental balance and was making irrelevant statements out of frustration as he had sensed his defeat. Parveen Jorra, convener of the legal cell of the BJP for Sirsa, has filed a complaint with the SP, seeking registration of an FIR.

“Addressing a press conference in Sirsa on May 13, Tanwar had told his workers to stay outside strongrooms round the clock and set any vehicle roaming around the buildings on fire,” the complaint stated. Duggal alleged that Tanwar had been delivering provocative speeches after polling and instigating workers to resort to violence.

“It has become the Congress’ culture to instigate violence and then say “Hua So Hua”,” she alleged.

Answering a question about Mangala village sarpanch against whom Tanwar has lodged a complaint with the EC for giving party-wise break up of votes at his village, Duggal said the sarpanch was giving his assessment and that there was nothing wrong in it.

Accusing Tanwar of trying to intimidate the Mangala sarpanch, Duggal assured the party workers that she would always stand by them.
