Rewari, May 15

Gifty, a student of Jeevan Jyoti Senior Secondary School at Mandola village, secured the third position in the science stream with 490 out of 500 marks in the Haryana Board of School Education Class XII examination, the result of which was declared today.

A science student, Gifty said she wanted to become a doctor. “My mother, who is a primary teacher, wanted me to take coaching, but I made her understand that I could do it on my own. I would wake up at 4 am and study for four hours,” she said.

“I have always dreamt of becoming a doctor as it is a noble profession. I want to help those who can’t afford treatment at private hospitals. Spreading awareness on good health through campaigns is also on my list,” the girl said.

Gifty’s father Anil Kumar, a farmer, said: “She is gift from God and has done us proud. Our relatives and friends are heaping praises on her.”

Her mother Sushila said Gifty had always been a bright student. She topped Rewari district in the Class X examination. “I was confident that she would make it to the list of top five at the state level,” she added.
