Chandigarh, May 15

It has been over a month since residents of Raipur Khurd have been facing water crisis. Residents said while the village had been merged with the Chandigarh MC a few months ago, the civic body had failed to take care of the basic need of water.

Sartaj Singh, a resident of the village, said people had filed complaints with MC officials several times, but to no avail.

Residents of Tribune Colony are the worst sufferers. A resident of the colony said the timing of water supply is too short. It hardly comes on several occasions. Another resident said for the past few days, they even failed to get water supply for half an hour.

He said they had been forced to pay for water tankers to meet their requirements. Private water tanker operators fleece people by charging hefty amount.

When contacted, Manoj Kumar Bansal, MC Chief Engineer, said he would look into the issue and ensure that residents do not face water crisis. — TNS
