Kiratpur Sahib, May 13
A 26-year-old youth was shot dead at Shahpur Bela village near here today. The deceased has been identified as Sukhwinder Singh. He was the only son of former village sarpanch Ram Singh.
The police have registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC against another local resident Harmol Singh.
Ram Singh said his son had gone to irrigate fields in the morning when around 11am they got the information that he was shot at. He along with others rushed there to find that Sukhwinder was lying in a pool of blood and he told them that Harmol had fired upon him, he said. He died on the way to the hospital.
The relatives of the deceased said they didn’t know the reason behind the murder as Harmol and Sukhwinder were good friends.
