Congress candidate from Anandpur Sahib Manish Tewari today alleged that SAD candidate Prem Singh Chandumajra had duped an NRI of Rs 1 crore in 2014 and that the SAD-BJP government then had not initiated any action against him.

On July 5, 2016, Dubai-based Jaspreet Singh Sidhu had alleged that Chandumajra took Rs 1 crore from him in the name of party fund, promising that the would be nominated to the Punjab Human Rights Commission. The NRI alleged that neither was he nominated to the commission, nor was his money returned.

Sidhu, however, admitted that he did not give the money directly to Chandumajra. Tewari today said that the Akali leader must be booked.

Chandumajra maintained that after Sidhu levelled false allegations against him, he initiated legal proceedings.

“When Sidhu tendered an apology, I did not pursue the matter,” he claimed.
