Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal today told traders that they would benefit only if the Congress formed the government at the Centre as it would roll out new GST and provide full support to the new entrepreneurs.

Criticising the Modi government, Manpreet Badal said, “Due to the wrong policies of the Central government and wrong implementation of GST, the business sector and small scale trade has been badly affected.”

He said two years had gone and work on many projects was underway. Still three years are left and a lot more will be done, he added.

He said he was trying to bring industry in the city, which could create jobs for the local youths and also boost the local market.

At a meeting, Vikram Garg, district media in-charge of the BJP, joined the Congress in the presence of Manpreet Badal.

Manpreet added that Rs 16 crore had been spent on the work of streets in the city while Rs 20 crore was being spent to repair the sewerage system.

The work of Ring Road will be completed in two years at a cost of Rs 95 crore and also an overbridge will be constructed at Sanguana Basti at a cost of Rs 95 crore.

Apart from this, Rs 18 crore was being spent for basic amenities in government schools in the city. Even the work on renovating water channels is also going on in the city, he said.
