AICC observer and Rajya Sabha MP BK Hari Prasad today said sensing defeat in the parliamentary elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems to have lost his mental balance as he is running down and making derogatory remarks against all his predecessors.

Addressing a press conference here today, he said never before has any PM made such derogatory remarks against his predecessors. “The PM seems to have lost his mental balance as shown by the manner in which he is consistently insulting all former PMs and Congress leaders,” said Hari Prasad. He added that Modi seems to be in the habit of speaking ill about all other PMs and opposition leaders.

“We condemn the remarks he made against former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi which reflected the mentality and etiquette of the BJP leaders,” he said. He added that BJP leaders, including the PM, are mocking at all those people, including Hemant Karkare, who sacrificed their lives for the nation. He said Rajiv Gandhi had been given a clean chit in the Bofors deal, both by the Supreme Court as well as the High Court.

“The PM and leaders like Arun Jaitley as law minister tried to probe every aspect of Bofors deal but now with the negative trends emerging for the BJP, their frustration is getting the better of them, resulting in such disgraceful remarks,” he said. He said though the Bofors scam was worth Rs 60 crore almost RS 750 crores have been spent on its investigation till date.

He said the BJP which had lost the Assembly polls in three major states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh last year would win very few Lok Sabha seats in the Hindi heartland, while in the South, the BJP itself had little hope.

The Congress MP said Modi, who boasts of a 56-inch chest, has no answers when it comes to letting people like Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya and Mehul Choksi flee the country. “He has always pursued a vinashkari (destructive) agenda and not vikaskari (development), which is so evident from the pathetic health and education facilities in Gujarat, where he remained chief minister for years together.

He accused the BJP of indulging in divisive politics — a major threat to integrity of the nation.
