U-turn by ‘rape victim’ before magistrate

SHIMLA:In a new twist to the case pertaining to the alleged rape of a 19-year-old girl in a moving car, the victim today backtracked from the charges levelled in the FIR and denied the incident of abduction and rape in her statement recorded before the magistrate.

In a new twist to the case pertaining to the alleged rape of a 19-year-old girl in a moving car, the victim today backtracked from the charges levelled in the FIR and denied the incident of abduction and rape in her statement recorded before the magistrate.

Even in the CCTV footage captured at four places gathered by the police, the “victim” was seen walking on the road and there was no attempt of abduction.

ADM (Law and Order) Prabha Rajeev has been tasked with inquiring into the facts and circumstances of the case. The report would be submitted in 24 hours.

The DGP, meanwhile, has constituted an eight-member special investigation team headed by ASP (City) Praveer Thakur. — TNS
