Ludhiana, April 23

The district unit of the BJP has extended full cooperation and support to their alliance partner SAD and its candidate Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal.

The high command has given clear instructions that come what may, all support will be given to the candidate and sincere efforts need to be made to make sure that the alliance wins.

The state general secretary of the BJP, Parvin Bansal, said he would be looking after Gurdaspur and Ludhiana North.

“There are no differences with anyone on announcement of candidates. We are making every possible attempt that our candidate wins with a majority. As far as Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal is concerned, he is a seasoned politician. When he was a minister, he did a lot for the Hindus. Good Hindu vote bank is with him,” said Bansal, who also expressed happiness that Bollywood star and son of Punjab, Sunny Deol, was given ticket from Gurdaspur.

Voicing similar views, Kamal Chaitley, in-charge, Ludhiana West, said no party worker’s interests were important than the party. The SAD/BJP has a strong alliance in Punjab and it will go a long way.

“We are making sure that Grewal gets maximum support in the area and we are pretty sure that he will win with a majority as the Congress MP could not fulfil most of his promises. Meetings are being arranged, door-to-door campaigning is in full swing and voters are giving huge support to the candidate and SAD/BJP,” said Chaitley.

On being asked that there were rumours that a few leaders were not happy with the choice of candidate, Chaitley said this could be propaganda against them.

“We are supporting Grewal wholeheartedly. We expect that the BJP-SAD will win with a huge majority, giving way to the BJP to form the government at the Centre once again,” said Chaitley.
