On the first day of his election campaign, Congress candidate from Bathinda parliamentary constituency Amrinder Singh Raja Warring not just had dinner at the residence of a daily wager in Badal village in the Lambi Assembly segment, but also spent the whole night there.

He said the Badals had failed to do anything for village residents. “I spent a night at the residence of some labourers at Badal village just to know about their problems. This family has a total of 12 members. Though some members of the family are educated, they are daily wagers. It shows that the Badals did not do anything for the village residents,” said Warring.

Notably, during his debut elections from the Gidderbaha Assembly segment in 2012, he had lunch at a poor villager’s house.

However, his opponents termed it an “election stunt”, saying that Warring should tell public that how many times he had slept or had dinner at the residence of a labourer in the past. “In his Facebook live video, he is seen sitting on the floor while having dinner, but thereafter he is taking rest on some cot. I want to ask him was it necessary to sit on the floor and create a drama. It was a clear publicity stunt and nothing else,” said a SAD leader from Lambi.

He further said, “It seems that Warring is already under pressure and forgot that Badal sahib (Parkash Singh Badal) even at the age of 91 visits almost every house in his Lambi Assembly constituency to express grief over the loss of any family member. He knows each and everyone personally and people respect him.”

Holds meeting with Cong workers

Warring on Monday held a meeting with Congress workers at the residence of former District Congress Committee chief Gurmeet Singh Khudian, seeking support from them. Some Congress workers even told him that they had some bitter experience in the past after the elections, some candidates (without naming anyone) neither came nor enquired about their well-being. At this, Warring assured them that he would take care of each and every worker, whether he wins or loses. He appreciated the hard work of the Khudian family.
