SHIMLA: The filing of nomination papers for the four Lok Sabha seats in the state, that go to the polls on May 19, will begin tomorrow and continue till April 29.

The filing of nomination papers for the four Lok Sabha seats in the state, that go to the polls on May 19, will begin tomorrow and continue till April 29.

The papers will be scrutinised on April 30 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is May 2. The electioneering will culminate on May 17 while the polling will be held in the single phase on May 19. The four constituencies have a total of 50,96,869 electors — 25,84,183 men, 25,12,627 women and 59 third gender.

The number of new voters may increase further by April 29, when the Electoral Registration Officer concerned cleared 182,890 new applications. There are 7,723 polling stations, of which 948 are sensitive, 373 hypersensitive and 6,402 ordinary. — TNS
