Two held with Rs 20 lakh in Kurukshetra

KURUKSHETRA: The CIA-1 team of the Kurukshetra police held two men and recovered Rs 20 lakh from their possession on Saturday. The suspects have been identified as Habbuful Rehman and Saiful Islam, residents of West Bengal.

The CIA-1 team of the Kurukshetra police held two men and recovered Rs 20 lakh from their possession on Saturday.

The suspects have been identified as Habbuful Rehman and Saiful Islam, residents of West Bengal.

Superintendent of Police Astha Modi said, “The CIA-1 team got a tip-off that two men had been making rounds between Ambedkar Chowk and railway station, and they may be carrying suspicious material. Both men were stopped and during checking, while Rs 6 lakh were recovered from a bag, Rs 7 lakh each were recovered from their jackets.” The currency notes were in the denominations of Rs 2,000 and Rs 500. The suspects said they had an office in Delhi and they supplied cigarettes to shopkeepers. The money in their possession was the collection that they got from the shopkeepers. They were handed over to the Income Tax Department for further action. — TNS
