Students of a private educational institute held a protest at Budhal in Rajouri district on Saturday. They alleged that local transporters were denying services to them frequently, which was affecting their studies.
These children go to Budhal town to study from remote areas like Kuntardan and other villages situated in the adjoining Reasi district.
While protesting inside a police station, they alleged that private transporters were indifferent towards school timings. They said many drivers didn’t let them travel despite them paying full fare instead half fare as settled by the authorities for students.
Policemen deployed at the station contacted the Station House Officer and the Naib Tehsildar, asking them to address their grievances.
The Naib Tehsildar assured the students over phone that their problems would be looked into on Monday.
“As private institutions don’t run their own vehicles, a meeting with transporters and parents has been fixed on Monday and the issue will be solved by requesting the transporters to re-schedule their timings for the students,” said Ghulam Ali Malik, Naib Tehsildar.
