Moga, April 20

Congress candidate from Faridkot Lok Sabha (reserve) constituency Mohd Sadiq has stirred a row by opening his election office adjacent to a liquor vend in the same building. Sources claim that it is an attempt to entertain the supporters and escape the EC lens.

It is learnt that some Congress leaders are partners in the liquor syndicate which has been allotted this vend. A tavern-cum-dhaba is also located on the same premises.

The poll office was inaugurated by Mohd Sadiq in the presence of local Congress MLA Dr Harjot Kamal PPCC secretary Ravi Grewal and city Congress chief Vinod Bansal.

The EC, meanwhile, has ordered daily monitoring of liquor sales of retail shops. If sales exceed by 30 per cent in comparison to last month’s daily average, it will be investigated.
