Ludhiana April 19

The Communist Party of India (CPI) has taken a strong exception to the registering of the case against the Principal, a teacher and students of Government College for boys for staging a play in the college.

The FIR which has been lodged on the complaint by the Bajrang Dal is totally uncalled for. The play in question raises the issue of women’s rights and condemns the efforts of some fundamentalists to curb their rights of freedom and security. It is nowhere against any religion, says Dr Arun Mitra of CPI.

“The play is written by Rasika Agase, a playwright and an international artist of Marathi film industry. It has bagged many prizes. Mitra further said this act by Bajrang Dal is an attack on the freedom of speech. — TNS
