Amritsar: Punjab Democratic Alliance  and communist leaders conducted a meeting in favour of their joint  candidate Daswinder Kaur, who is in the fray from the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat.  She said she would campaign door to door to garner support. She will take up issues concerning people. A  leader, Lakhbir Singh Nizampura, said she would file nomination  papers on April 25 in presence of Punjab Ekta Party president Sukhpal Singh  Khaira. Firearm seized

Tarn Taran: The Valtoha police seized a .32 bore country-made pistol, along with two cartridges, from Assal Utar village, 35 km from here, on Thursday. Cops also seized a motorcycle. Karan Singh Kala of Mehindipur has been booked under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. The police said that a checkpoint had been installed in Assal Utar village where the accused was signalled to stop. Karan Singh left his bike and fled. Amid this, his firearm and cartridges fell from his pocket. OC
