Rlys gears up for summer rush

In order to cater to the rush of passengers during the upcoming summer vacation, the Railways has added an extra AC chair coach to New Delhi–Amritsar Swarn Shatabdi Express (12029). Besides, special trains are also expected to start soon.

Amritsar Railway Station Officiating Director Amrit Singh said that the station received footfall of about 50,000 people, including, 20,000 passengers, on a daily basis. During the summer vacations, the number rise by 40 per cent.

He said additional lights, navigation boards and other guiding infrastructure for public had been sought. In order to provide swift information on the arrival and departure of trains, two five-line LED display boards and a 10-line display board will be put up.

He added that more special trains would be operated and extra rakes would be added to those trains on the routes where rush is expected.—TNS
