Chandigarh, April 19

‘Nritya arpan’, a Kathak dance festival, was held at Tagore Theatre here today. City-based Gurukul Music and Dance Academy organised the event.

The festival was an ode to ‘guru-shishya’ tradition as the gurus and disciples of lead danseuse Jatinder Nayyer shared the stage.

The performance began with a ‘shloka’ and invocation of Lord Ganesha followed by a solo dance recital by Jatinder Nayyar.

More than 40 disciples of Guru Jatinder Nayyer, aged 5 to 45 years, filled the stage with thrilling actions while unfolding various dance patterns. Excellent foot work left the audience spellbound. — TNS
