3 more arrested in minor’s rape case

In the rape case of a 17-year-old girl by her Facebook friend, the Mohali police arrested three more suspects here.

The suspects have been identified as Lucky, Manpreet Singh and Rinku, all in mid-20s and residents of Khanna. The police had already arrested Jagraon resident Gurpreet Singh (25), who was currently residing in a rented accommodation in Phase 11 here.

According to Nardev Singh, SHO of the Phase 11 police station, the trio had brought the victim, who is a resident of Jalandhar, from Amritsar to Khanna first. “Lucky and Manpreet raped her in Khanna. Then the victim was brought to Mohali at Gurpreet’s resident, where she was again raped by Gurpreet,” said the SHO.

The police said all suspects and the victim were Facebook friends and had come into contact through this social networking site.

Gurpreet was working with a private company in the Industrial Area in Mohali, while Rinku was a DJ. Lucky was running a shop of air-conditioners and Manpreet worked at a spare parts shop.

The victim is a Class 12 student. A case of rape has been registered at the Phase 11 police station, here. 

About the suspects
