Six killed, 19 hurt in accidents

At least six persons were killed and 19 were injured in four road accidents on the highways in Rajasthan in the past 24 hours.

Hanuman Singh (43), his son Suraj Singh (19) and a friend Ghanshyam Singh (37) of Bidasar were killed as the pickup van they were using to transport the DJ system for a function from Khaliya to Payali village collided with a Lok Parivahan Sewa bus that was ferrying passengers to Salasar Dham on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on the Bhojasar-Parihara stretch of the highway in Rajasthan on Thursday. Two other occupants of the pickup van were also injured. The impact was such that the pickup van was cut into two pieces and the bus overturned.

Among the 16 bus passengers who were injured, Ganesh, Sanwer Mal, Vijay Singh, Prithvi Raj and Manohari Devi have been referred to PBM Hospital, Bikaner, while others were given treatment at the Civil Hospital in Ratangarh.

In another incident, brick-kiln worker Khem Chand Nayak (26) was killed as he fell from a tractor that collided with a truck on the Hanumangarh mega highway last night.

Another brick-kiln worker Prabhu Ram Bawri (30) of Chunawadh (Sriganganagar) died, while his brother Vijay, who was wearing a helmet while riding motorcycle escaped with minor injuries, as a jeep hit them today on the Bhagat Singhpura road in Hanumangarh.

In yet another mishap, Chander Bhan (43) was killed as an unidentified vehicle reportedly hit the motorcycle he was riding on the Sriganganagar-Suratgarh highway on Thursday night.
