Abhishek shoots to top

CHANDIGARH:Delhi’s Abhishek Verma shot a total of 146 to pip Rajat Chauhan of Rajasthan and claim the top spot in the men’s compound competition on the second day of the NTPC All-India Ranking Archery Championship here on Thursday.

Delhi’s Abhishek Verma shot a total of 146 to pip Rajat Chauhan of Rajasthan and claim the top spot in the men’s compound competition on the second day of the NTPC All-India Ranking Archery Championship here on Thursday. Chauhan scored 143 points. 

Sunendu Roy of Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) followed in third place, while Punjab’s Sukhminder Singh occupied the fourth spot. 

Sangampreet Bisla of Punjab, Delhi’s Aman Saini, MR Bhardwaj of SSCB and AIPSCB’s Bhagwan Das completed the top-eight respectively.  

In the women’s compound competition, Maharashtra’s Purvasha Shinde scored 145 points to push title favourite V Jyothi Surekha (144) of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) to the second spot. 

RSPB’s Parveena finished the day in third place. Rajasthan’s Priya Gujjar and Trisha Deb of RSPB followed in the fourth and fifth places, while Monali Jadhav, Snehal Mandhare and Priya Sarve, all from Maharashtra, occupied the last-three spots respectively.   

Tarundeep Rai of SSCB dominated the field in the men’s recurve competition. He was followed by Jagdish Chaudhary, also from SSCB, in second place, while RSPB’s Mangal Champia occupied the third spot. PSPB’s Atanu Das was further behind in fourth place. 

In the women’s category, RSPB’s Bombayla Devi held the top spot, while AIPSCB’s Sumandeep Kaur bagged the second position. — TNS
