Woman among four booked for Rs 38 lakh fraud in separate cases

The city police have registered two cases involving a fraud of Rs 38 lakh and booked four persons, including a woman, in this connection.

In first case, the Haibowal police have booked a woman identified as Rimpy Bala, a resident of Jawahar Nagar, for committing a property fraud of Rs 13 lakh. The complainant in the case, Puneet Kumar, a resident of Model Town Extension, said the suspect had struck a deal to sell a plot at Rs 23 lakh out of which Rs 13 lakh was given in advance to the woman. Later, Puneet came to know that the woman had already finalised a deal to sell the same property to Manoj Kumar and she had also taken advance from him.

In another case, the Dehlon police have booked three persons identified as Tajinder Singh of Partap Nagar, Gurpreet Singh of Adarsh Nagar and Naresh Thapa. The trio had committed a fraud of Rs 25 lakh on the pretext of sending the complainant, Jaskaran Singh, a resident of Alamgir village, to Canada. Jaskaran told the police that the suspects had taken Rs 25 lakh from him to arrange a work permit for Canada. After taking money, they failed to arrange work permit for the complainant.

A case under Sections 420, 120, IPC, and 24 of the Emigration Act has been registered against the suspects.
