Beheaded woman’s body identified

BATHINDA: The police have identified the woman whose body was found naked and beheaded in a drain at Sai Nagar late on Tuesday evening.

The police have identified the woman whose body was found naked and beheaded in a drain at Sai Nagar late on Tuesday evening.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Sapna (32), a resident of Dhobiana Basti. The police have called her mother Roshni. Cops are working to find out more details about the deceased to crack the case.

SSP Nanak Singh said, “We have identified the woman, who used to live in Dhobiana Basti. We have called her mother. More details about her will be ascertained later.”

After getting information about the body, GRP officials and police personnel from the Canal Colony police had reached the spot. Later, a dog squad and a team of fingerprint experts were also called.

Condemning the incident, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal had tweeted, “Safety of daughters goes for a toss in Punjab. The recovery of a beheaded naked body of a young girl in Bathinda has made my blood boiling today. It’s a manifestation of sheer lawlessness. People won’t forgve you Capt Amarinder for pushing the state into such dark days.”
