Cellphone seized from jail inmate

BATHINDA: The authorities recovered a cellphone from a Central Jail inmate, identified as Deepak Kumar of Alike village in Barnala, on Tuesday.

The authorities recovered a cellphone from a Central Jail inmate, identified as Deepak Kumar of Alike village in Barnala, on Tuesday.

The authorities in their complaint to the Cantt police said they had launched a search operation inside the jail when they recovered the cellphone from the inmate.

Investigating Officer Nachatar Singh said a case under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 52 of the Jail Manual Act had been registered at the Cantt police station.
