Dharamsala, April 17

BJP leaders Sanjay Sharma and Rakesh Sharma while addressing a press conference alleged that Congress leader Vinay Sharma had issued a “fatwa” against state president of the BJP Satpal Satti at the behest of former CM Virbhadra Singh.

The BJP leaders alleged that two days ago former Deputy Advocate General of Himachal Vinay Sharma had announced an award of Rs 10 lakh for anyone who cuts Satti’s tongue.

Vinay had allegedly made the announcement after a purported video clip of the use of “abusive language” by Satti against Congress president Rahul Gandhi went viral.

Sanjay alleged that Vinay was promoted by Virbhadra. Despite the fact that his licence to practice was suspended by the Himachal Pradesh Bar council for one-and-a-half year, Virbhadra appointed him as Deputy Advocate General during his stint as CM from 2012 to 2017. “Vinay was used by Virbhadra to lodge false complaints against former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal and his family and now he was issuing threats to the BJP state president,” he added.

Congress state president Kuldeep Rathore should clarify if he endorsed Vinay’s statement, he said.

The BJP leaders said they had already filed a police complaint against Vinay for announcing an award for anyone cutting the tongue of the state BJP president.

“We have also urged the state government to inquire how he was appointed as Deputy Advocate General during the period in which his licence to practice was suspended by the Bar council. We have urged the state government to order an inquiry, recover the salary paid to Vinay and register a case against him and the people who appointed him illegally on a public post,” the BJP leaders demanded.
